Summary

Nautilus stores your focus records and distraction notes on your device. Some usage information and identifiers are sent to external services to provide the shared ocean features and improve the app. They are not used for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps.

Data collection

The Nautilus iOS app collects the following data:

• Shared ocean features: an automatically generated account ID, nickname and avatar, your selected vessel, in-app dive region and start/end information, fish discoveries, and encounter records. Supabase provides these features. Your nickname, vessel, dive activity and discoveries may be displayed to other app users. Ocean regions and depths are in-app representations, not your real-world location.
• Usage analytics: app launches, screen interactions and feature use such as dives; app version, device and OS information, an app-instance identifier, approximate region, and the age band and screen-time band you provide during initial setup. Google Firebase Analytics processes this information to help improve features and understand usage. Your age band is also used to analyze ongoing app usage.

The app does not ask for your name, email address or date of birth. However, generated identifiers can link activity to the same account or app instance, so this information is not treated as unlinked data. The app does not collect precise GPS location.

Where your data lives

Your journal, distraction-note text, fish collection and settings are stored on your device. Distraction-note text and your selection of blocked apps are not sent to external services. There is no iCloud sync. Some dive and discovery information needed for the shared ocean features is sent to Supabase, and usage analytics is sent to Firebase Analytics. These services store and process that information.

External services and use of data

Collected data is used to provide and operate app features and to analyze and improve the app. Google and Supabase process data to provide their respective services. This processing may take place outside Japan. Data is not sold or combined with other companies’ data for targeted advertising.

Deleting data

Use “Delete Social Data” in Settings to delete your server-side anonymous account, profile, timeline posts, dive activity and encounter records. This does not delete the fish collection or journal stored on your device. A new anonymous account may be created if you use social features again.

Deleting social data does not delete Firebase Analytics data. For questions or requests about data handling or deletion, contact us at the address below.

About Screen Time (FamilyControls)

Nautilus uses Apple's Screen Time framework to block the apps you chose during your own focus sessions. By Apple's design, your app selection is opaque even to Nautilus itself, and it never leaves your device.
